A New Season…

There has always been a desire in me to be self-sufficient and live a simple life. Am I there yet? Some days I feel like I am and others it is a toss-up. It is a daily mindset to create a simple life in a world that is so focused on the next best thing and tells us we need all the newest gadgets. When in reality you really don’t need all the bells and whistles to be happy. Through the years, I have learned that at the end of the day if my husband, girls, and myself are happy and healthy we are well on our way in creating our simple life.

There are so many twists in life. God opens doors and closes doors for reasons that we can’t comprehend at the time. For us currently we are restarting our farm from scratch, on our five acres. This would be one of those times you question what God is doing and why we are having to go through this hard period. Don’t get me wrong, so extremely happy and thankful to have our own land. However, getting to this point was very hard and stressful for our family. I know through this situation we will be able to end with a homestead that is self-sufficient! We were very blessed to be able to purchase five acres this last year and are planning to build our homestead here. Thankfully my husband is very mindful of creating a self-sufficient home and farm for our family. We are still in the beginning stage of figuring out what we really want in our forever home. We’ve had many discussions on what self-sufficient items we would like to incorporate and there has been a lot of research to figure out if these ideas are even doable. We are so very excited to see how building a home and reestablishing our farm will play out in this busy season of life that we are in.
